Healthy Families Act
The Healthy Families Act of 2009 is an attempt to institute a national paid sick leave policy. The bill "requires businesses with 15 or more employees to provide up to seven days (56 hours) of paid sick leave each year." The bill allows employees to earn one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, until the 56 hour cap is reached. The earned sick leave hours cannot be used uintil an employee has ben working for 60 days.
